SSC row: Cong wants Jitendra Singh to resign

◗ Hundreds of aspirants have been staging protests in Delhi, while the Opp. has been lashing out at the govt for its ‘ inaction’

The Congress on Monday demanded the sacking of minister of personnel Jitendra Singh and the SSC chairman over the so called SSC scam.

The clamour around the purported Staff Selection Commission ( SSC) examination paper leak scam has been continuing unabated for the past several days. Hundreds of aspirants have been staging protests in the heart of the national capital, while the Opposition has been lashing out at the Centre for its “inaction”.

On March 5, the Centre ordered a CBI inquiry into the alleged scam.

“We have accepted the demands of the protesting candidates and have given orders for a CBI inquiry. Protests should now stop,” said home minister Rajnath Singh.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi, amongst other political leaders, visited and met the agitating students. Moreover, Congress has linked this to the Vyapam scam of Madhya Pradesh.

In a statement, Congress communications chief Randeep Singh Surjewala said, “Irregularities, malfeasance, paper leaks, proxy candidates, fake centres, lack of audit and supervision, questionable software, and deliberate collusion have put a question mark on the future of India’s youth. Their future is being robbed in broad daylight by a sinister modus operandi.”

The Congress said that there have been paper leaks in seven examinations conducted by the SSC as has been admitted by it. He added that there is unprecedented compromise of safety and secrecy of SSC examinations.

Demanding an explanation from PM Narendra Modi, Mr Surjewala asked when will the PM break his “maun vrat”.
