been only two and a half months into 2018 and the world has seen already seen three deadly major airline crashes that killed nearly 208 passengers.

In 2017, the aviation industry saw 44 fatalities on board aircraft and 35 on the ground and it was considered one of the best years ever.

The jet era began around the 50s and 60s has seen no stopping. On every single day there are more than 100,000 scheduled flights.

The airline industry with its ever- increasing passenger numbers and complexity has adapt to changes in technology, growth, congestion, staffing, infrastruc­ture, weather patterns and evolving threats such as terrorism and the use of drones.

March 16: A U. S. military helicopter crashed in western Iraq near the city of Qaim.

March 12: A US- Bangla Airlines aircraft caught fire after it careened off the runway and ploughed into a football field while landing at Nepal’s Tribhuvan Internatio­nal Airport.

March 12: A private jet carrying Mina Basaran, daughter of Turkish businessma­n Huseyin Basaran and seven of her friends crashed in the mountainou­s region of Iran while returning from the UAE after her hen party celebratio­ns. Dead: 11

Feb. 18: Iran Aseman Airlines ATR 72- 212 crashed in a mountainou­s area near Yasuj in Iran 10 minutes from its destinatio­n.

Dead: 65

Feb. 11: Saratov Airlines Antonov aircraft crashed near Stepanovsk­oye in Russia a few minutes after takeoff.

Dead: 71
