ASUS announces world’s thinnest convertible laptop
ASUS has launched the world's thinnest and lightest convertible laptop dubbed ZenBook Flip S. The UX370 is 11.2mm thin and weighs just 1.1kg, with latest 8th gen Intel Core i7- 8550U CPU with onboard LPDDR3 16GB RAM. The laptop is said to be built from a single block of aerospacegrade 6013 aluminium alloy, a material that is lighter than standard laptop alloy, but 50 per cent stronger.
The Flip S also incorporates an ErgoLift hinge that features a precision engineered multi-gear metal mechanism. it has a dual- action mechanism that lifts and tilts the keyboard into the typing position when the display is opened beyond 135 degrees.
The two USB- C ports on ZenBook Flip S support external 4K UHD displays, power delivery and data transfer — all via the reversible, any- way- up USB- C connector. The bundled Mini Dock provides an HDMI port, a USB 3.1 port, and a USB- C port that supports fast charging. The devices use a high- capacity 39Wh lithium- polymer battery that supports fastcharge technology and charges up to 60 per cent in about 49 minutes.
The convertible comes with a 13.3- inch Touchscreen FHD display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels with 300nits brightness and 72 per cent NTSC standard. The display is ultrathin with just 6 . 1 1 m m physical bezel that gives it an 80 per cent screen- to- body ratio. With a resolution of FHD 1920x1080 16: 9 and a pixel density of 330 pixels per inch, this display features 178- degree wideview technology. The touchscreen display also supports an active stylus, such as the ASUS Pen.
For enhanced security, Flip S comes equipped with a fingerprint sensor on the side. ASUS Smart Gesture allows up to four- finger gestures in Windows 10. The
touchpad incorporates palm- rejection technology and handwriting support. The UX370 is priced at ` 1, 30,990.
