6- year- old steals bag, arrested after hunt

A six- year- old kept the police on their toes on Monday after she fled with a bag containing ` 1 lakh in cash in Shahdara.

The girl ran away with the bag after her mother and grandmothe­r were caught for stealing the cash in the area. While the police was busy questionin­g the two, the girl ran away with the bag.

According to the police, the six- year- old girl ran away with the bag containing cash. After sustained questionin­g, the women belonging to Bawariya gang told the police that the entire family is involved in the racket. They divert the attention and then strike. On Monday, they targeted a 58- year- old lady, Sunita, a resident of West Gorakhpur Park. At about 11.30 AM, Sunita was carrying big cash in the bag. The two wmen managed to take out the bundle of notes and secretly handed over to the six year old. When Sunita reprimande­d the two women and raised an alarm, the police found nothing on them. However sustained questionin­g led to the truth when the women revealed the modus operandi.

The team headed out to trace the girl and towards late evening and managed to find the girl who in turn told the police that she handed over the cash to a pushcart vendor. The police with the help of the girl launched a manhunt to nab the vendor. After hours, the girl identified the vendor with the help of CCTV grab and based on the intelligen­ce and sketches, the team zeroed- in on the Pushcart vendor.
