XIAOMI’S BEAUTY

Xiaomi’s MIX 2S is their flagship offering for 2018 and costs RMB 3,999 ( approximately ` 40,000) for the top- end 8GB/ 256GB variant. It gains a 12MP + 12MP dual rear camera setup, which imitates that of the iPhone X, both in form and function. There’s a wide angle lens as well as a telephoto lens and an Artificial Intelligence assists the camera to take portrait shots that can implement bokeh effects similar to the iPhone. One can expect portrait selfies from the single front camera, like the Google Pixel 2. The Mi MIX 2S also features live translation from photos, including currency conversion. All of Xiaomi’s efforts in the camera department has helped the Mi MIX 2S achieve a DxOMark of 101.

With a familiar form factor of the Mi MIX 2, the new model is built around a Snapdragon 845 SoC, which yields an AnTuTu score

of 277178.

Xiaomi’s new built- in voice assistant, called the XiaoAI can integrate with all smart home appliances as well as provide information from the Internet. The phone will also gain support for ARCore via a software update. The Mi MIX 2S also gains Qi standard fast 7.5W wireless charging support. Xiaomi is packing their own Mi wireless charger ( worth $ 99) with the top- end variant of the Mi MIX 2S.

At the event, Xiaomi also unveiled a Mi Gaming Laptop with a 15.6- inch display, Intel 7th gen core i7 CPU, NVIDIA GTX 1060 GPU, 16GB of RAM and 256GB SSD+ 1TB HDD storage. It gets an RGB backlit keyboard with 4xUSB 3.0 ports, 2x USB- C ports, HDMI and an audio jack and priced at $ 1,440. A Mi AI Speaker Mini was also unveiled for $ 27, which comes with Xiaomi's XiaoAI assistant that can stream music, get the weather, program your calendar, and do other personal assistant- type chores.
