UP woman given ‘ talaq’ over phone

Ballia, UP: A 26- year- old Muslim woman today alleged that her husband had given her divorce over phone. The woman, living under the Bariya police station limits, told the media that her husband, who is serving in the Indian Air Force ( IAF) and posted in Bagdogra ( West Bengal), had given her divorce by uttering “talaq” thrice over phone. “He called me up recently, said he wanted to marry another girl and gave me divorce by saying talaq thrice,” the woman told mediapersons here. She said she had got married on April 12, 2016 and alleged that during the time she spent with her in- laws, she was harassed for a car and 10 ` lakh in dowry.
