Cops arrest 2 offenders with illegal firearms

North district police has arrested two criminals who had 12 cases related to robbery, snatching, car jacking and even contract killing registered against them.

The arrested persons have been identified as Santosh Bahadur Thapa and Vinay. The police recovered one country made pistol along with two live cartridges, from their possession.

With their arrest, the police has solved two cases of robbery and six cases of vehicle thefts. The police said that a tip off received on March 29 led to the arrest of the two gangsters.

As per the tip off, Thapa would come on a stolen mobike near Gulabi Bagh underpass. Acting upon the said information, the police team swung into action and laid a trap near the underpass.

Knowing that a police party was waiting for them, the accused tried to flee from the spot. But the police team apprehended the accused.

During interrogation, Thapa admitted to crimes. On the instance of Thapa, another accused, Vinay, was picked up from Samay Pur Badli along with a stolen motorcycle, trhe police said.
