The BJP MP demanded that cases of treason be filed against those involved in desecration of Ambedkar’s statues

BJP MP Savitri Bai Phule on Sunday launched an agitation against her own government on the issue of reservation.

The BJP MP from Bahraich addressed a “Aarakshan Bachao Rally” at the Kanshi Ram Smriti Upvan here and vowed to fight against any conspiracy to end reservation.

She started the programme by offering floral tributes to Dr B. R. Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram.

She said that reservation was a question of giving representation to deprived sections of society and should not be treated as alms. She warned of bloodbath if any move was made to end the reservation policy.

“Reservation is a right given to us by Babasaheb Ambedkar and not any other leader. I have learnt that the Modi government is planning to end the policy of reservation which is a direct attack on scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, OBCs and minorities,” she said.

The BJP MP demanded that reservation should be extended to the private sector also to give greater employment opportunities to the weaker sections of society.

Angry over the recent incidents of desecration of B. R. Ambedkar's statues, Ms Phule demanded that cases of treason be filed against those indulging in such acts.

“Cases of treason must be registered against those found desecrating, vandalising or damaging the statues or busts of B. R. Ambedkar.

“A person who damages the idols of Babasaheb is a traitor, and accordingly adequate action must be taken against him,” the BJP MP from Bahraich said.
