Uday Bhan too hot for HSCA

Rajasthan Ranji player Yash Kothari ( 105, 83b, 1x6, 16x4, 2/ 33) helped Uday Bhan Cricket Academy beat Hari Singh Cricket Academy, Ghaziabad, by seven wickets to enter the pre- quarterfin­als of the 28th all- India Volga Om Nath Sood Memorial cricket tournament at the St. Stephens grounds in the capital on Tuesday.

Uday Bhan Cricket Academy won the toss and chose to field, bowling out Hari Singh Cricket Academy for 228 in 38.5 overs.

Uday Bhan began well as medium pacers Himanshu Sangwan and Gaurav Sharma took a wicket each, dismissing the openers to reduce Hari Singh Cricket Academy to 32/ 2 in 6.4 overs.

Amitoze Singh ( 56, 55b, 9x4) and Sumit Singh ( 51, 28 b, 4x6, 5x4) then steadied HSCA’s innings, putting on 58 runs for the third wicket.

Uday Bhan spinners Gurdeep Singh Sodhi ( 3/ 28), Yogesh Kumar ( 3/ 43) and Kothari ( 2/ 33) the shared HSCA’s remaining wickets to bowl them out for 228.

Kotari then took control of the proceeding­s, smashing a fine century to lead his team to victory in 34.1 overs.

Kothari ensured that Uday Bhan faced no difficulti­es during their run chase, putting on 67 runs for the first wicket with Jaideep Chauhan ( 39), and later receiving useful support from Shivam Gupta ( 36 not out) and Vaibhav Sood ( 28).

None of Hari Singh’s bowlers were able to create any impact on Kothari, who was named man of the match.
