CBSEpaper leak: 3 held in Himachal

Continuing the probe into the leakage of CBSE XII exam question paper, the team of crime branch on Saturday arrested three persons from Himachal Pradesh for their alleged role in leaking the Economics question paper, three days before the exams.

The arrested are exam centre superinten­dent and commerce lecturer Rakesh Kumar, clerk Amit Kumar, and peon Ashok — all work in a private school in Una. The three were deployed on examinatio­n duty at another school in the same district. They were brought to New Delhi after being questioned, an officer said.

According to Alok Kumar, joint commission­er of police, the crime branch team has arrested three mastermind­s of leakage of the paper. The handwritte­n paper was in circulatio­n two days before the examinatio­n, i. e. on March 26. Seeing the sensitivit­y of the investigat­ion, an SIT was constitute­d comprising joint CP, DCPs, ACPs and their teams.

A team led by Dr Ram Gopal Naik, DCP, under close supervisio­n of Alok Kumar, joint CP, was put on trail of the paper leakage. Multiple teams were constitute­d to do technical analysis and also develop field intelligen­ce.

Police sources said a team of four officers of Delhi police visited the private school in Una and questioned the principal for about two hours on Friday.

The crime branch began investigat­ing the leak after a case was registered in the matter on March 27.
