HAMILTON SUPPORTS return of grid girls

-

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has backed the idea of bringing ‘ grid girls’ back to Formula One after the tradition was abandoned and replaced with the ‘ grid kids’ scheme earlier this year, according to the Daily Mail.

The topic arose after the head of the Monaco Grand Prix recently insisted that grid girls would be making a return in May.

It received mixed reviews but it appears the current world champion is in favour of the return after he shared a screenshot of five women in skin- tight jumpsuits with low necklines with the caption ‘ Thank you Jesus’ on his Instagram page.

Hamilton quickly deleted the post soon afterwards.

Russia has shared the same stance as Monaco chief Michel Boeri and said they will be looking to bring back grid girls when the F1 visits in September.

Russia deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, who oversees the Russian Grand Prix, said: “If we can reach an agreement, we will revive this tradition in September.”

According to Russian news agency Interfax, the deputy Prime Minister boasted: “Moreover, our girls are the most beautiful.”

F1’ s new US owners Liberty Media said in January the practice of using grid girls — paid models in uniform — wasn’t ‘ appropriate or relevant’ anymore.

Their role has since been given to ‘ grid kids’ scheme, young drivers from local motorsport clubs.
