Eco re- test will not delay exam results: CBSE

The re- test of the Class 12 Economics paper, held on April 25, nearly a month after it was leaked, will not delay declaration of results, said an official of the Central Board of Secondary Education ( CBSE).

He said that the results will be declared on time as the evaluation is in advanced stage despite reexam of economics paper. He added that the board has followed up with schools to send more evaluators than the required number so that the results don’t get delayed.

According to the Delhi police, the Class 12 economics paper was leaked on 23 March — three days before the scheduled date of the examination. The leak had caused outrage among students and parents and many of them had taken out protests accusing the CBSE of negligence and demanding immediate action against the guilty.

There were also reports of the CBSE’s Class 10 mathematics paper being leaked, but the board decided against its re- test, saying Class 10 was just an “internal segment” of school education system.

arrests in several parts of the country in connection with the case, including in Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Vijaywada’s Bhogi Suraj Krishna has topped the Joint Entrance Examination- Mains for admissions to engineering colleges across the country, with over 2.3 lakh students, including more than 50,000 girls, qualifying the test.

The second rank in the exam was bagged by Hemant Kumar Chodipilli from Andhra Pradesh, while Rajasthan’s Parth Laturia secured the third spot.

“I was confident of my performance when the answer keys were out, but had not expected to bag the top rank,” Krishna told PTI over phone from Vijaywada, adding that he wants to join IIT Bombay.

While over 11 lakh candidates had registered for the exam, a total of 10.74 lakh candidates had appeared for the test, of which 2,31,024 qualified the exam.
