Rohini loot & killing case shifted to crime branch

In order to conduct a thorough investigat­ion, the ATM cash van loot case that took place in Rohini last week where two custodians were shot dead, has been transferre­d to crime branch.

The incident took place on April 26 where unidentifi­ed bike- borne assailants shot dead the cashier and guard and fled with cash 12 lakh.

The police said that the Crime Branch has begun the probe and is looking whether Haryana- based criminals are behind the robbery- cum- killing as the incident took place close to the Haryana border.

“At the moment, we are studying the modus operandi of the accused and the probable escape routes. There have been similar incidents in the neighbouri­ng areas and we are investigat­ing whether there are any links among them,” said an officer privy to the probe.

Besides questionin­g the employees of the cash collection company, according to police, they will also be seeking a list of the former employees of the company.

The robbery- cum- killing took place when the cash van had come to pick cash from a wine shop at DSIIDC industrial area, in Narela.

Three bike- borne assailants shot at cashier Rajnikant and guard Prem Kumar. The accused, who were wearing helmets to hide their faces, allegedly fired at the victims 18 to 20 times and then escaped with the cash box. Both victims succumbed at the Raja Harishchan­dra hospital in Narela.

Notably, on April 24 also some unidentifi­ed men made an attempt to rob a cash van in Rohini, but the cashier and security guard foiled it.
