Woman, 65, raped by armed man

◗ A 65- year- old woman was allegedly raped by an armed criminal after she resisted a robbery bid inside her house

In a shocking incident, a 65- year- old woman was allegedly raped by an armed criminal after she resisted a robbery bid inside her house in Dankaur area of Greater Noida on Friday afternoon, said the police on Saturday.

“The complainant said that she was sitting outside her house with her daughter- in- law when two armed men on a bike came to them and asked to hand over their jewellery and valuables to them,” said the police.

“The complainant that she along with daughter- in- law said her fled inside the house in order to save themselves. However, the criminals followed them,” said a senior police officer.

She told the police that one of the two criminals took her inside a room and raped her at gunpoint.

“The two later fled the house. The elderly woman narrated the ordeal to her son and later filed a police complaint,” said a senior police officer.

The police has registered a case under Section 376 ( rape) and 392 ( robbery) of the Indian Penal Code and have launched an investigation into the matter.

A similar robbery attempt was made just 15 minutes before the alleged rape in the same area. Police suspect it to be the handiwork of the same criminals.
