Three held for robbing 45,000 at Metro station

■ Incident took place in Feb ◗ The three accused were found to be involved in a dozen cases of pick pocketing and robbery. CCTV footages helped Delhi Metro police to nab them.

Delhi Metro police has arrested three accused persons for robbing ` 45,000 from a person in February this year. They were arrested on the basis of CCTV footages.

The accused persons were identified as, Raju alias Sahil Choudhary ( 31), Rahul alias Joginder Pal ( 28) and Ravi alias Manish ( 33) for the offence committed on February 13 2018 in Raja Garden Metro, Delhi.

All of them were involved in a dozen of cases of pick pocketing and robbery.

According to the police, the incident occurred when the complainan­t was boarding metro train at Karol Bagh metro station.

The complainan­t reported that some unknown persons had picked his pocket in which cash ` 45000 were kept. On which above mentioned case was registered and on analysing the CCTV Footage of the relevant period the complainan­t was found to be followed by three persons. The police first identified the suspects and thereafter collected their previous involvemen­ts and hideouts.

Thereafter, they developed informatio­n about movement of the accused persons and apprehende­d the accused persons.

“All the accused persons used to operate in metro trains, crowded buses, trains etc. The accused persons used to operate in a group. They first identify the victim with bulging pockets standing on the metro stations or any other crowded places from where one can board a transport. Thereafter, they surround the victim and started pushing in the name of hurrying and in the process one of them picks the pocket. They generally steal the cash from pockets of the victims using this modus operandi,” said Deepak Gauri, DCP Metro.
