Rann Star ease past RR Gym

An unbeaten 54 by Yash Sehrawat and Pratham Singh’s 46, along with probing bowling by Saqlain Haider ( 3/ 19) set up Rann Star Cricket Club’s eight- wicket win over Rohtak Road Gymkhana in the first round of the 45th all- India Goswami Ganesh Dutt Memorial cricket tournament at the Hindu College grounds on Monday.

Rohtak Road Gymkhana won the toss and chose to bat. Skipper Sumit Mathur ( 44 not out) was the lone batsman to show resistance as RR Gymkhana were restricted to 139 in 34.4 overs. Mohit Sharma chipped in with 24. Off- spinner Haider was the pick of the bowlers as the promising player of the match took three wickets for 19 runs in 5.4 overs. Abhishek, Vaibhav Kandpal, Tejas Baruka , Kapil Kohli and Shawaj Khan took one wicket each for Rann Star CC.

In reply, Rann Star CC eased past the target in 25.1 overs with the help of Singh ( 45b, 7x4) and man of the match Sehrawat ( 52b, 10x4). Kandpal ( 25 not out) also impressed with the bat, putting up an unbeaten 61 with Sehrawat for the third wicket. Delhi Ranji player Mohit Sharma and Kartikey picked one wicket each for RR Gymkhana.

On Tuesday, Central Warehousin­g Corporatio­n face Hari Singh Cricket Academy from Ghaziabad. SCORES Rohtak Road Gymkhana 139 in 34.4 overs ( Sumit Mathur 44 not out, Mohit Sharma 24, Ankit 10, Shekhar 10, Saqlain Haider 3/ 19, Kapil Kohliu 1/ 5, Vaibhav Kandpal 1/ 19) lost to Rann Star Cricket Club 141/ 2 in 25.1 overs ( Pratham Singh 46, Yash Sehrawat 54 not out, Vaibhav Kandpal 25, Mohit Sharma 1/ 23, Kartikey Sharma 1/ 32).
