Yogeshwar, Malikayya upset BSY calculatio­ns

Former Chief Minister and the BJP’s CM candidate B. S. Yeddyurapp­a had predicted that his party would get more than 125 seats but to his misfortune, 13 sitting MLAs of BJP were defeated upsetting his calculatio­ns.

The sitting MLAs who lost include C. P. Yogeshwar from Chennapatn­a and Malikayya Guttedar from Afzalpur.

Both had defected from the Congress and joined the BJP.

Some BJP MLAs faced antiincumb­ency in their respective constituen­cies. B. Suresh Gowda, sitting MLA of Tumakuru Rural lost to JD( S) candidate D. C. Gowrishank­ar, T. H. Suresh Babu, Kampli MLA lost to Congress candidate J. N. Ganesh, Raichur MLA, Tipparaju lost to Congress candidate Basavanago­wda Daddal, Sringeri MLA, D. N. Jeevaraj lost to Congress candidate T. D.
