Mid- range monster
Realme, the new online range from Oppo, redefines value
In the premier league of smartphones, the Realme 1 is like the Rajasthan Royals — lot of fire power economically achieved! The recently launched Realme 1 is the start of a new sub- brand from Oppo, where the devices will be sold exclusively online: a mix of specs and design that will compete with the crowded value phone segment in India. Realme demolishes the myth that you either get design or performance with a mid- range design, not both.
The back cover uses 10 nanometre titanium mixed with other oxides to provide a metallic, shiny but low- weight design. The 6- inch full screen device is powered by a 3,410 mAh battery, and the Helio P 60 octacore processor in addition to a separate dual core AI processor. The AI processor is used to understand your user pattern and give you a more personalised experience, besides providing better image analysis and optimised camera performance, especially facial recognition and selfie enhancements. The device also uses AI for better battery management and an in- built assistant that gives you a dashboard of appointments, flights etc. The 13 MP and 8 MP camera configuration compliments the 18: 9 aspect ratio.
Realme 1 comes with a triple SIM slot that allows two 4G SIMs in addition to an extra SD card to provide upto 256 GB of storage space. Available in black, silver and red colours, the black model comes with an ‘ art of light’ design which creates a contemporary chiseled light effect at the back, making it look rather stylish. The 3 GB plus 32 GB variant is priced ` 8,990, while the 6 GB plus 128 GB variant costs ` 13,990. The devices will be available exclusively on Amazon from May 25. A 4 GB plus 64 GB variant will be available later in June at ` 10,990. If a mid- range combo of style and specs is what you are looking for, the Realme1 merits your serious consideration.
