PROMO RAISES DOUBTS
Mumbai, May 25: Cricket fans around the world were shocked to see when a leaked Hotstar video of ‘ Chennai Super Kings versus Kolkata Knight Riders’ Indian Premier League final surfaced on the internet.
While the teams — KKR and SRH — and their fans kept their fingers crossed during their match at the iconic Eden Gardens on Friday, a leaked Hotstar video, indicating a KKR versus CSK final on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, had set tongues wagging, with Twitter users, claiming final is “fixed”.
After a leaked video, went viral on Thursday, showing that it will be a showdown between M. S. Dhoni’s men and the Dinesh Karthik- led unit. Twitter came down heavily, with “fixed” remarks.
However, the actual story has just got clearer as a promo of CSK- Sunrisers Hyderabad final broke the internet soon after, meaning that the broadcasters were just preparing in the advance for the final.
This has just come hours before the Qualifer 2 game between KKR and SRH in Kolkata on Friday.
Although IPL has been giving more than handful of cricketers a livelihood, a chance to brush shoulders with the legends of the game and giving a boost to their hopes to represent their country, the tournament has had its share of controversies such as spotfixing in IPL 2013, following which the then CSK team principal Gurunath Meiyappan was implicated in spot- fixing and betting case, and led to bans on three Rajasthan Royals cricketers Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila were banned, with their co- owner Raj Kundra, like Gurunath Meiyappan, was banned for life and CSK and RR were suspended for two years.
