Eighteen- year- old rookie Sandeep Singh of Sriganganagar in Rajasthan dominated proceedings in round two of the PGTI Feeder Tour event at the BSF Golf Club in Chhawla here on Thursday.

Sandeep ( 72- 65) shot the day’s joint best score of seven- under- 65 to climb from overnight tied ninth to joint first at seven- under137 alongside first round leader Dhruv Sheoran ( 69- 68), another rookie, who continued his hot form with a four- under- 68.

Coimbatore’s Vashista S. Pawar matched the day’s best score of 65 to close the second round in tied third at four- under- 140 along with Delhi golfers Aditya Raj Kumar Chauhan ( 70) and Vikram Rana ( 70).

The cut was declared at sixover150. Thirty- eight out of the total 72 golfers made the cut ahead of the third and final round.

Sandeep, who hails from the AEPTA Amogh Greens Golf Course in Sriganganagar, made nine birdies against two bogeys on Thursday after a quiet start in round one with a 72.

He was then two- under through the front- nine in round two but managed to turn it around with a five- under on the back- nine that featured two birdie hat- tricks.

Sandeep said, “I had missed a lot of chip- putts on day one.

“But today it was a different story as my short- game was right up there.

“I started believing I could go really low when I chipped- in for birdie on the 10th and followed that up with a 20- foot birdie conversion on the 11th.

“I have drawn a lot of confidence from my performance at the PGTI Q School earlier this year.

“I first finished tied second in the first pre- qualifying event and then earned a full card with a tied 32nd finish in the final stage. If I can carry forward the momentum into the final round, I stand a good chance of winning.”

Sheoran continued in the lead after producing five birdies and a bogey on Thursday.

Pawar’s 65 included an eagle, seven birdies and two bogeys and the effort lifted him 31 places from his overnight tied 34th.
