CISF men thrash Metro employee

A station manager at Dwarka Sector 21 Metro station was allegedly beaten up by a few Central Industrial Security Force ( CISF) personnel on Thursday after a tiff over a minor issue, officials said.

Following the incident, services on the Blue Line from Dwarka Sector 21 to Janakpuri West were affected for around 20 minutes after DMRC employees staged a protest against the assault.

Sources said that a CISF sub- inspector had gone to Dwarka station on an official assignment and parked his vehicle at the DMRC parking zone. When he returned, he found that a tyre of his vehicle had been deflated.

On being questioned, a DMRC staff told the CISF personnel that his vehicle tyre was deflated on the instruction of the station manager, Shabhu Nath, as the car was parked in an “unauthorised zone”.

“The CISF staff, along with a few other personnel, went to the station manager’s room, where they thrashed the station manager after a heated argument,” sources said. A PCR call was made to report the incident.

“A report has been lodged on this issue by the DMRC and CISF is taking up the issue department ally. Moreover, senior officers from both the sides had to intervene to sort out the matter,” sources added.

Meanwhile, the DMRC staff assembled and staged a protest at the Dwarka Sector 21 Metro premises.

“Due to the agitation at the station, services were putted on hold temporarily since 9.10 pm. However, services on the line from Janakpuri West to Noida/ Vaishali were restored at 9.35 pm,“said a DMRC official.

The station manager, Shabhu Nath, was sent to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries, a police official said.

“We have initiated an official inquiry against the accused CISF personnel. If found guilty, stringent action will be taken against them,” DCP ( Metro) Deepak Gauri said.
