Once bitten, twice shy, the Cocktail actress is taking her time before committing to another relationship

Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor’s relationship was no secret in the industry. And Deepika’s heartbreak post the break- up too wasn’t a hidden one. As everyone who even remotely knew them as a couple, was aware that Deepika was absolutely and unconditionally devoted to Ranbir.

“She was looking at a life ahead with Ranbir. She wanted marriage and babies. He seemed to be all for it. She was ready to give up her career to be Mrs Ranbir Kapoor. Then he got bored and distracted. He moved on to Katrina Kaif. He got bored and distracted in that relationship too. But that’s a different story,” says a close friend.

The actress’s certainty about the relationship was evident with Ranbir’s initials inked on her nape. However, after things didn’t work out between the two, the actress was shattered. To her credit she picked up the broken pieces of her heart and rebuilt her life.

Now, once bitten, twice shy, Deepika has become cautious with regard to these matters. A filmmaker- friend of the actress who has worked closely with her says, “Though Ranveer is completely committed in the relationship and wholeheartedly devoted to her, Deepika is now commitment- phobic. She fears her heart may be broken again. And this time she won’t be able to take it.”

Ranveer, on the other hand, waits with ring in pocket for his lady love to say yes.
