Man stabbed after tiff over ` 1,500

In a shocking incident, a man was stabbed to death and his father and mother suffered severe injuries following a heated argument with their neighbours in Wazirpur area on Sunday night.

Around 15 to 20 people attacked the family with knives and sharp objects in Bunkar Colony, in which 35- year- old Deepak was killed, while his father and mother were admitted to the nearest hospital and are said to be in a serious condition. Deepak later succumbed to his injuries during treatment in the hospital.

The accused, Rohit and Ravi were demanding ` 1,500 from the deceased’s cousin Vishal, which initiated a heated argument between them. When Deepak got to know about this, he immediatel­y reached the spot and slapped the accused after which all returned to their homes.

The victim’s family said that after this brief confrontat­ion, a few minutes later around 15 and 20 people, including Rohit and Ravi, came on motorbikes and attacked them with knives and sharp objects. After committing the crime, they left their two bikes and ran way from the spot.

Deepak and his parents were rushed to the hospital, where he ( Deepak) succumbed to his injuries while his mother and father were seriously injured.

Both have been admitted to Deepchand Bandu Hospital, where their condition continues to remain serious.

Vishal, the deceased’s cousin alleged that “Had the police come on time, my brother would not have died. They reached the spot after around halfanhour during which time the accused committed the crime. If they ( the police) would have acted promptly, this crime could have been averted.

Meanwhile, a police team was deployed at the spot and a case has been registered against the accused, said a senior police official.
