HCrefuses to hear plea against Metro, CISF
The Delhi high court on Monday refused to grant an urgent hearing to a PIL seeking action against those responsible for alleged stalling of Metro services for some time last week after a scuffle between the Delhi Metro and the Central Industrial Security Force ( CISF) personnel.
The plea came up before a vacation bench of Justices P. S. Teji and Pratibha M. Singh, which stated the matter will be heard by a regular court as it was not a PIL court and listed the matter for July 5.
Petitioner P. C. Arya, a former central government employee, sought directions to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, CISF, Delhi police and MHA to ensure that such incidents don’t recur again as any unlawful stalling of Metro trains results in transport problems to the citizens.
Lawyer A. K. Choudhary, appearing for the petitioner, said a heated argument, which soon turned physical, took place between a CISF SI and station manager of Dwarka Sector 21 Metro station.
The altercation resulted in the trains Blue Line being briefly suspended for 30 minutes on May 31 evening.
The petitioner, founder of Ardh Sainik Welfare Trust, said in the plea that Metro services on Blue Line were briefly suspended between Dwarka Sector 21 and Janakpuri West due to a protest by Metro rail staff. It said the incident began at 12.30 pm following a fight when the tyre of a vehicle apparently belonging to the CISF was deflated as it was parked in an unauthorised zone outside the premises of Dwarka Sector 21 station.
The PIL claimed since the vehicle was parked illegally, the station manager “had ordered to deflate the tyre”.
