Clooney proud of changes in H’wood
Los Angeles: In a subtle to nod to movements like MeToo and Time’s Up, actor George Clooney has said that is “proud” of the long “overdue” changes taking place in Hollywood.
The 57- year- old actor received the American Film Institute’s Life Achievement Award in a ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
The event was attended by Clooney’s wife Amal and his father Nick along with a host of Hollywood personalities like Jennifer Aniston, Cate Blanchett, Don Cheadle, Courteney Cox, Jimmy Kimmel and Bill Murray, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“I love being a part of this industry. I’m very proud of the changes I’m seeing in this industry. They’re much overdue,” Clooney said after accepting the honour.
The Michael Clayton star also thanked his parents, calling them “two of the most ethical people I know. Their example was always due north.”
Talking about Amal, Clooney said, “I thought you couldn’t have it all. I thought if you had a successful career you couldn’t have one great love and then I met Amal.”
Amal, who married Clooney in 2014 and shares two kids — daughter, Ella, and son, Alexander, spoke about her husband.
“Coming here I knew there would be lots of people who could speak to George’s talent,” she said. “So I thought I should say a few words about his character. He is a gentleman in every sense of the word and a way that seems so rare these days and perhaps outdated. Everyone who knows him will tell you he has not forgotten his Kentucky manners. On every set I visit his crews tell me he stands up for the most vulnerable,” she added.
