Gangster of Mewati region arrested

The Delhi police has arrested the kingpin of cattle thieves from Mewat region carrying a reward of 25,000 on his head and was declared a proclaimed offender by the court.

The arrested accused was identified as, Ibrahim alias Ibba ( 55), resident of Nuh, Haryana. The accused was wanted in several cases, the police said.

According to the police, in April 2017, a PCR Van patrolling in the area of Paschim Vihar received a call that some persons are lifting cattle illegally in in a covered Tata- 407 bearing Rajasthan registrati­on number.

The local police and PCR started searching the vehicle and noticed that the target vehicle was present in Block 7, Paschim Vihar, Delhi. On noticing a PCR Van approachin­g them, the accused accelerate­d and sped away. The police party chased them and announced to stop their vehicle, but they did not stop the vehicle.

The police flashed a message to other police cars in the vicinity. When the vehicle reached near Subhash Nagar, the police party heasring the sound of gunfire realized that the accused were firing on the police.

Thereafter, in order to stop the said vehicle and in retaliatio­n, cops fired on the tyre the vehicle and the rear tyre got busted, but they didn’t stop and the police chased the vehicle till Kirti Nagar.

On a dead end road, the accused abandoned their car and started running to escape the chasing cops, but two accused, Mohd. Umar and Mohd Shahid, were arrested. The police recovered one countrymad­e pistol along with 10 live cartridges from the possession of accused.
