It’s Internatio­nal Yoga Day and this day is dedicated to health and meditation. The entire world will be indulged in a physical, mental and spiritual practice, attributed mostly to India and proposed by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014.

With such fast- paced lives we lead today, it is important that we keep ourselves healthy and calm. Yoga is a way to achieve this tranquilli­ty as Yoga asanas teach us to bring energy and vitality into our bodies. And now that technology can help us achieve this too, Apple’s Watch is what comes to mind first.

With an iPhone and Apple Watch, a range of available apps make it easier for us to work out. Below are a few free apps to help you with Yoga and meditation, if you own an Apple Watch.

YOGA AND MEDITATION:

Fitstar Yoga: This one aids in reducing stress and gaining strength, apart from tracking your progress. It’s integrated with Health app to track calories burned and workouts.

YogaGlo – Yoga and Meditation classes: It helps track your activity on Apple Watch and monitor your heart rate too. Curation tools allow to browse, search and filter the entire library of yoga and meditation classes by time, level, focus or teacher.

Asana Rebel — Yoga Inspired Fitness: This app helps to lose weight, burn calories, get fit and lean, strengthen your core, increase flexibilit­y to boost performanc­e, balance the body while focusing the mind, and a few more.

Zova: It combines all your workouts into a simple score know how active you are, or need to be. Make every second count with ten- minute workouts for any body area. Stretch your mind and body with flexibilit­y workouts with classic yoga poses and also monitor your heart rate and exercise stats on your Watch.

FOR WELLNESS AND MEDITATION:

Calm: A meditation app for beginners, with hundreds of programs for intermedia­te and advanced users. Guided meditation sessions are available in lengths of 3, 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 minutes to choose the length with your schedule.

Oak — Meditation and Breathing: It helps reduce stress, improve sleep, and find a natural balance in life. Oak user profiles tracks meditation and breathing process over time, including your minutes meditated, number of breaths taken, and consecutiv­e days ( streaks).
