Vivo NEX rumoured for India in July

Vivo launched the futuristic Vivo X21 smartphone in June, which features a bezel- less screen and an under- display fingerprin­t scanner. Another smartphone, Vivo NEX, was launched recently and this one included a crazy all- screen display, offering 91.24 per cent screen- to- body ratio, in- screen fingerprin­t reader, a Snapdragon 845 SoC and a selfie camera that pops up.

While India has already seen the Vivo X21, NEX is rumoured to debut in India by next month. Vivo hasn’t revealed anything

about launching the device in other markets; however, a report by 91 Mobiles claims that Vivo is set to launch it in the third week of July. The report also puts an approximat­e price tag of around ` 40,000 on the NEX. The NEX has two models, A and S ( approx ` 4 7 , 0 0 0 ) , and it is unknown as to which one will Vivo release in the country.

The NEX S is the high- end variant, running on the SD845 chipset aided by 8GB of RAM; while the NEX A is powered by the new Snapdragon 710 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM. Both the units offer 128GB of storage, but the NEX S offers a 256GB variant too. Moving on, the NEX smartphone­s feature a 6.59- inch AMOLED display panel ( 2316 x 1080 pixels) with an aspect ratio of 19.3: 9. The dual rear camera system consists of a 12MP sensor and a 5MP sensor. Upfront, the handsets sport an 8MP selfie camera. The devices are backed by a 4000mAh battery and run on Android 8.1 Oreo layered by FunTouch OS 4.0 along with AI enhancemen­ts.

Lastly, the NEX S features an under- display fingerprin­t sensor that is claimed to be 10 per cent faster and 50 per cent improved accuracy. The NEX A, on the other hand, comes with a convention­al rear fingerprin­t sensor.
