Indian firms to display ayurvedic medicines in US conclave

New Delhi, June 21: Some major players of India’s ayurveda sector would promote the country’s traditiona­l system of medicine and its healing aspects at a convention to be held in the US from on Saturday.

The three- day IndoAmeric­an Wellness Conclave and Exhibition, 2018, at California’s Santa Clara Convention Centre will discuss “Wellness and its pursuit” according to India’s traditiona­l practices.

Besides American wellness companies, a large number of Indian firms like Kerala Ayurveda, Dabur and AIMIL Pharmaceut­icals are participat­ing in the event.

The wellness summit would be an opportunit­y for the country to prove its credential­s in ayurveda, the representa­tive of a company participat­ing in the event said.

Besides, showcasing different products related to ayurveda, yoga, herbal and natural medicine, the participan­ts would also reach out to global leaders by presenting the efficacy of ayurvedic products, he said. A brainstorm­ing session would be held at the event which is expected to create awareness about ayurveda.

“Usually, diabetes drugs are first developed by developed countries and then sold in India. However, this is for the first time that we would be showcasing indigenous­ly- developed anti- diabetic drug to the world,” a participan­t said, adding that CSIR developed antidiabet­ic drug BGR- 34 which is being showcased at the summit.

Executive Director of AIMIL Pharmaceut­icals Sanchit Sharma, who is participat­ing in the event, said that to improve its ranking in wellness index, the US is looking to herbal products, and it is a matter of pride.
