Annie Potts ( Meemaw) of Young Sheldon gets candid...

Playing Meemaw must be a lot of fun, Annie?

Oh yes. Playing Meemaw is just a license to kill! Describe Meemaw?

I am from the Southern United States, on the Kentucky- Tennessee border, around Nashville; I was born and raised there. And so Meemaw is from a breed of woman that I am familiar with. They’re quite confident and a little wacky. They’re also unpredictable. She speaks her mind, and most of all she is crazy about this little boy. Everyone else is fretting about him but she just thinks he is fabulous. She’s kind of a voice of reason in her own boozy way.

Do people recognise you in the street, Annie, as Sheldon’s Meemaw?

Yes, it’s so sweet as most people have a Meemaw that they love. I’m happy to stand in for all of them. I grew up in a very small town where everyone knew everyone else and people always recognised me. So it’s kind of an extension of that. It’s not a bad way to live.

Do you ever interact with

The Big Bang cast? We’re both busy on our own sound stages and have different schedules. We are a single- camera show. They have a completely different schedule with a live audience. They work a lot less than we do. They comes in, rehearse it and bring the audience in. Theirs is an enviable schedule, in a way.
