Gupta: CM lying on tree- felling issue

-

Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta on Saturday once again accused Arvind Kejriwal government of lying in the matter of felling of trees in Netaji Nagar and Naoroji Nagar areas of the city. According to Mr Gupta, it is being said by Delhi government that fresh trees cannot be planted as land has not been made available for plantation, which is totally false.

west and north Delhi. The green cover is the lowest in those areas,” said Chhavi Methi, a 42- yearold environmentalist.

Mr Kumar agreed that though there isn't much need of plantation in this area, but this is part of the NDMC’s regular monsoon project.

“It is the areas under the MCD and DDA that require more plantations,” he added.

Concerned over the situation,

Mr Gupta claimed that in the Notifications dated November 15, 2017 and April 23, 2018 issued by the Delhi government, the government itself has admitted that DDA had made available land for compensatory plantation on July 28, 2017.

Leader of Opposition Mr Gupta asked when Kejriwal- led government and Aam Aadmi Party say that land has not been provided for compensatory plantation, if this is not a lie, what else is there?

Ms Methi, said that the agencies are chopping off trees in the populous area for their commercial concerns, and the authorities are just making a fool of the people by blaming one another.

“It's not fruitful to plant trees at a place where the population cluster is so low. After the plantation is done, the authorities are never concerned whether the plant survives or not,” she alleged.
