TERRY LEADS IN SHOW OF SUPPORT FOR THREE LIONS

-

Former England captains John Terry and David Beckham were among sports stars far and wide supporting England on Tuesday night as they progressed into the World Cup quarter- finals — with Terry taking in the game from a private screening in his back garden.

England won only their second penalty shootout at a major tournament in eight attempts — and first at a World Cup — against Colombia in Moscow to set up a last- eight showdown with Sweden, reports the Daily Mail.

But it wasn’t just fans watching on nervously, with Terry and Beckham among past and present sporting figures enjoyed the match.

Terry sat in his back garden with his own personal screening of the encounter.

‘ Come on England,’ Terry wrote on Instagram as the former Three Lions skipper took in the game alongside his family and friends, including former Chelsea team mate Steve Sidwell.

He even included a video of their celebrations following Eric Dier’s winning spot kick.

Others included Terry’s former international colleague Beckham, who took the game in with some of his friends on a night out. Beckham — part of two England penalty heartbreaks during his career — expressed his distress about the life as a fan rather than a player on Instagram.

He wrote: ‘ Seriously now I know what it feels like.... Wow .. ComeOnEngland @ England’.
