While this was so, two officers were suspended for derelictio­n of duty after an inspection of some of the drains in Delhi by the chief minister and the public works department minister revealed that the status reports about de- silting of drains was misleading and that the officers had misinforme­d the government.

This was when chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and PWD minter Satyendar Jain inspected desilting works of drains on Monday, according to a Delhi official statement.

The PWD has already set up a unified control room, which will function 24x7 to deal with the waterloggi­ng complaints, a statement issued by the Delhi government said

Complaints about waterloggi­ng of roads can be lodged at the toll free number — 1800- 11- 8595 and Whatsapp number — 8130188222. The PWD will refer these complaints to the agencies and department­s concerned. Waterloggi­ng complaints can also be mailed at monsoondel­hi2018@gmail.com, the statement said. The PWD has also set up a monsoon control room with a toll free number 1800- 11- 0093.

The minister directed all agencies to ensure that there is no waterloggi­ng in their respective areas during monsoon. Vulneable points should be monitored. Manpower, machinery should be kept ready to deal with the situation, he said.

Mr Jain directed that public complaints should be addressed on priority basis and call centres kept functional at all times. The meeting was attended by the officials of PWD, DJB, Delhi Traffic Police, Delhi Cantonment Board, DSIIDC, three MCDs and NDMC.

In the meeting, the PWD informed that the department has already set- up a fully functional unified control room, which will function 24 hours to deal with the waterloggi­ng complaints. The department will refer to these complaints to concerned agencies/ department­s.
