The roar of 13 Wild Boars
All 12 Thai boys, coach rescued from flooded cave
Mae Sai, Thailand, July 10: The mission to rescue 12 boys and their soccer coach, who had been trapped in a cave in northern Thailand for 17 days finally got over on Tuesday morning with Thai navy Seals confirming that all 13 were out.
“We are not sure if this is a miracle, a science, or what. All the thirteen Wild Boars are now out of the cave”, the Seals, who were running the mission to rescue the Wild Boar ( Moo Pa) soccer team and their coach Nopparat Khanthavong, said on their Facebook page.
The news was greeted by global jubilation and the rescue workers lauded by world leaders. Donald Trump tweeted “great job” and Theresa May said, “The world was watching and will be saluting the bravery of all those involved.”
The rescued boys are being kept in isolation in hospital to avoid the risk of infection, but the first batch have been seen by their parents through a glass window.
They are not yet allowed to eat the rich Thai food they’ve been requesting — so far it’s diluted porridge, bread, and some chocolate.
Washington, July 9: American space entrepreneur Elon Musk tweeted that he was in Thailand on Tuesday with a prototype minisub, at the flooded cave where five members of a youth football team remained trapped.
“Just returned from Cave 3,” Musk said.
“Mini- sub is ready if needed. It is made of rocket parts & named Wild Boar after kids’ soccer team. Leaving here in case it may be useful in the future.”
He called it “basically a tiny, kid- size submarine using the liquid oxygen transfer tube of ( a) Falcon rocket as hull.”
The entrepreneur said it was light enough to be carried by two divers, robust, and small enough to get through narrow gaps.
