NETFLIX STARTS ROLLING OUT SMART DOWNLOADS

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Netflix has recently announced a new feature for Android mobiles and tablets called Smart Downloads. With this new feature, when you finish watching a downloaded episode, Smart Downloads will delete it and then automatically download the next episode in the series when you’re connected to Wi- Fi. The feature is expected to roll out for iOS later.

With Smart Downloads enabled, episodes will only queue up from shows that you have already watched and it will not download a suggested show. Also, the automatic deletion will free up space on your device.

Netflix goes on to state that the new episode will only take up as much space as the episode that was deleted. This should put to rest any concerns about Netflix eating into your phone storage.

Netflix says that since the introduction of the Downloads features in 2016, users have been downloading and watching content on the go. Whether users are commuting, travelling or just in a place with pricey or spotty internet access, the download feature makes it possible for members to take their stories with them wherever they go.

Netflix says, “We know how annoying it can be to go through all apps and delete files you no longer need; we also understand that the faster you can get to the next episode you want to watch, the better. Whether it is smart downloading or viewing a mobile preview, we realize the best part of Netflix is connecting with the stories you will love in an easier and more fun way.”
