LET WORK SPEAK

-

The report ASI suspended for touching minister’s feet ( July 11) stated that an assistant subinspector who touched the feet of the minister and sought a favour was suspended for his “misconduct”. It stated that the angry minister called up the inspectorgeneral of police and asked him to suspend the ASI. While it has become a routine for officials to fall at the feet of the rulers to get prime postings and the rulers too rejoice at and encourage such actions, this minister from Punjab seems to despise such acts. If the minister wants to send out a signal that the officials should not seek favours but strive hard to achieve their due, well, then full marks to him. V. S. Jayaraman Chennai
