A senior police officer said the BMW of Anisiya’s husband — Mayank Singhvi, her diamond ring and their mobile phones have been seized

The police on Monday arrested the husband of the female flight attendant who allegedly committed suicide in Panchsheel Park on Friday. Mayank Singhvi was arrested hours after the Delhi police issued a lookout circular against him in connection with the case.

He was first integrated at the Hauz Khas police station on Monday evening before his arrest.

He will be produced to the court on Tuesday.

Anissia Batra ( 39) worked with a German airline. She allegedly jumped from the terrace of her house on Friday. Her husband rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was declared brought dead. The family has alleged she was murdered, therefore, a second postmortem was conducted on Monday and the procedure was videographed.

A family friend of Anissia’s parents, who did not wish to be named, said, “We are very happy ( with the arrest). It is a good sign but we still have a long way to go.”

Anissia’s family had also claimed that her husband had wiped all the evidence since the crime spot was not sealed by the police.

However, Romil Baaniya, DCP ( South) denied the allegations by the family.

“The allegations about action delay by police are not true. The crime team reached the spot as and when they were informed. The allegations made by parents are being considered and therefore a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory team was sent to the spot for recreating the crime scene,” he said.

Anissia’s family has alleged that her husband used to physically abuse her. Her father, a retired Army major general, had even filed a complaint with the police last month.

He was interrogated for an hour and was later arrested. He would be produced before a magistrate on Tuesday.

A senior police officer said the BMW of Anisiya’s husband, her diamond ring and their mobile phones have been seized. Though the police had lifted the relevant exhibits, a forensic team was called to reconstruct the scene of crime, he added.

The police has also sought the details of the deceased and her husband’s bank accounts and they will be sealed.
