The deceased has been identified as Jagdish. He was an e- rickshaw driver and was unmarried. He is survived by mother and two brothers.

According to the police, on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday around 2.00 am, a PCR call was received regarding a severely injured person.

After receiving the call, the victim was rushed to Apollo Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The body was sent for a post- mortem, said the police.

The police later apprehended two persons, namely Aamir ( 24) and Zakir ( 19), for the murder of Jagdish. Both the accused are residents of Dakshinpuri.

On the basis of information and beat intelligence, the accused were apprehended, DCP ( Southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said. They disclosed that they came to meet Kajal who is rakhi sister of Aamir. When they were going back to Dakshinpuri after meeting her, Jagdish, who was under the influence of alcohol, passed lewd comments at her, which triggered the scuffle and in a fit of rage, the duo stabbed him.

However, the victim’s family alleged that he was stabbed 10 times and created a ruckus over police’s action.

A probe is underway and efforts are being made to recover the weapon used for the crime.
