Akbar, 28, lynched on cow- smuggling suspicion

In yet another incident of mob lynching, a Muslim man was murdered and another injured on Saturday by a group of people who had attacked them on suspicion of cow smuggling.

The incident took place in Alwar and the deceased has been identified as 28- year- old Akbar. Aslam, 22, who suffered injuries, has been admitted to a hospital in Jhirka, Haryana.

According to the FIR, police receiving a phone call about two suspected cow smugglers.

On reaching the spot, the police personnel saw some people running away but found Dharmendra Singh Yadav and Paramjeet Singh standing near two cows and an injured person who identified himself as Akbar alias Rakbar.

In his statement, Akbar said that he and Aslam were returning to their village after purchasing two cows when some villagers attacked them on suspicion of smuggling cows.

In yet another incident of mob lynching, a Muslim man was killed following attack by a group of people on suspicion of cow smuggling on Saturday.

The incident took place in Alwar district and the deceased is identified as 28- year- old Akbar. According to advocate Ishaq Khan, who is neighbour of Akbar Khan, the other person was 22- yearold Aslam who has been admitted in a hospital in Jhirka in Haryana.

Chief minister Vasundhara Raje has condemned the attack in a tweet promising strict action against the culprits. In a tweet she said, “The incident of alleged lynching of a person transporti­ng bovines in Alwar district is condemnabl­e. Strictest possible action shall be taken against the perpetrato­rs.”

The police have registered

case against unidentifi­ed persons. IG Jaipur range Hemant Priyadarsh­i said that two people Dharmendra Sngh Yadav and Paramjeet Singh have been arrested and they are being interrogat­ed to ascertain identity of other people involved in the attack.

As per the FIR, one Nawal Kishore Sharma had telephoned about two suspected cow smugglers walking away with cows towards Harayana. When the police team reached the spot, there were some people ran away on spotting the police while Paramjeet and Dharmendra found standing there near cows and an injured person who identified himself as Akbar alias Rakbar .

According to Assistant sub inspector Mohan Singh of Ramgarh police station who recorded Akbar’s statement on the spot before he succumbed to injuries, the victim told the police that he and Aslam were returning to their village after purchasing two cows. When they were passing through Lalawandi forest, some villagers came and started beating them on suspicion of being cow smugglers.

He told the police that Aslam managed to escape but he was severely beaten with lathi and sticks because of which he had suffered injuries in my ribs, hands and legs.
