Madhya Pradesh’s premier educational institution, Barkatullah University ( BU), here has landed in controversy following exposure of a professor of a government college roping in first year students to evaluate answer sheets of BA final year examination.

A video showing a student evaluating answer sheets of Hindi literature ( BA, final semester) has gone viral sparking strong resentment among the pupils of the university, leading BU authorities to order a probe into it.

“It has been found that a professor in a government college in Sagar in MP had assigned the task of evaluating the answer sheets to a second semester student. We have blacklisted the professor, identified as Dhaniram Ahirwar, and wrote to all the universities in the state not to hire his services for evaluation of answer sheets of college examinations in future”, a senior officer of BU told this newspaper on Sunday.

A high level official meeting chaired by BU vice- chancellor D C Gupta was held here late on Saturday evening to take stock of the matter.

“The university has decided to blacklist the professor and wrote to all the universities in the state not to give him any kind of responsibility related to examinations”, BU registrar U. N. Shukla said.

The BU has also removed controller of examination of the university A K Munjal from his post on charges of lapses in the matter.

A three- member committee has been constituted to probe charges of outsourcing of outsourcing of evaluation of answer sheets by some faculty members in colleges.

The committee has been asked to submit its report in a week, sources said.

Incidentally, this was the fourth such incident reported in the university in the past two years.
