Do take a leaf out of your idol’s fitness book, but…
People differ in body type
Anumber of people wish to have a physique like that of their favourite celebrity and then follow their exercise routines or diet plan as given on the Internet. What they don't realise is that every individual is unique with different body needs.
People differ in body type, lifestyle, daily nutritional requirements, and of course, the genetics. Genetics play an important role in influencing our body shape and size, hence, what works for one might not work for the other. Instead, it might affect you negatively.
Celebrities exercise for several hours every day, even twice a day. To follow their routine requires a lot of time and dedication. They have professional trainers and nutritionist to track the progress, which is near- impossible for us.
We need to understand that they get into shape for a particular role. It is part of their job for which they will be paid a huge amount. For them, working out for hours is like a full- time job, which is not feasible for people who have a regular 8- 10 working hours at an office and a social life that they don't want to give up.
Moreover, what the Internet tells you is a one- day routine in their life which must not be followed on everyday basis, because everyone needs variation in their fitness regime.
Furthermore, their strict exercise routine is combined with a strict diet plan which has been specially customised according to their body needs, as everyone has unique nutritional requirements. Desperately following their diet plan will not transform your body. For any individual, what and how much to eat should be based on their age, weight, height, activity level and considering the medical conditions, if any.
It is quite right to be inspired by your favourite celebrity, but do not copy them blindly. You need to pursue the goal of being physically fit. Listen to your body and find out what suits you or your routine. There are a number of options to choose from like pilates, yoga, aerobics or swimming, to name a few. You can decide depending on what you enjoy and what you can maintain for longer time.
According to the Department of Health and Human Services, a healthy adult should perform 30- 60 minutes of aerobic exercises every day, five days/ week, and moderate- to- intense muscle strengthening exercises at least twice/ week. Exercises need not be strenuous to be beneficial.
What’s more, you need to follow a well- balanced diet. Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables, drink lots of water, and include good proportion of protein in your diet. To sum up, it is more important to eat right, exercise regularly and aim for a healthy and happy life rather than copying others.
