Raje ‘ crazy’: Gehlot on lynching remark

-

Jaipur, July 31: Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday said Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje must be “crazy” to claim that the cases of lynching were a result of people’s anger over lack of jobs and their circumstances.

Ms Raje, in an interview with a news channel on Monday, said the incidents of lynching were not limited to Rajasthan alone and blamed the problem on frustration among people over lack of jobs.

“Someone intelligent or sensible can not say that lynching were taking place due to lack of jobs and growing population. Only someone who is crazy can say this, be it the chief minister or anyone else,” Mr Gehlot told reporters here.

“This is a problem that actually stems out of population explosion. People want jobs and people are getting frustrated because they are not able to get jobs.

“There is an angst that is spreading across communities and people,” Ms Raje told the news channel.

“It’s not something that is coming out of the state. It’s coming out of people’s anger and reactions to their circumstances but it’s very important that the government reacts in the right fashion and takes the right actions to see that these things can be prevented,” she said.

On July 21, a 28- year- old man Rakbar Khan was beaten to death by a group of people on suspicion of cow smuggling in Alwar district.
