The controversy over the official bungalow of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav that was vacated by him in June following Supreme Court orders has now taken a new turn.

A report submitted by PWD chief engineer A. K. Sharma to the estate officer says that the bungalow has suffered worth ` 10 lakh when it was vacated by Mr Yadav.

The 266- page report points out that the tiles, sanitary and electrical wiring of the bungalow has suffered maximum damage.

Mr Yadav may now have to pay ` 10 lakh to the government for damaging the official bungalow which he had vacated in June. The estate department has submitted a report to chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s office regarding the damage to the government bungalow.

According to the report, the first floor of the bungalow was constructed by Akhilesh Yadav himself and a lot of other work and renovations on the ground floor were also undertaken by the former chief minister.

The damages done to the bungalow have also been video- graphed during the probe.

The bungalow on 4, Vikramaditya Marg was allotted to Mr Yadav in the capacity of a former chief minister of the state. The bungalow had to be vacated after orders from the Supreme Court.

Five other former chief ministers, including Mulayam Singh Yadav, Rajnath Singh, Kalyan Singh, Mayawati and N. D. Tiwari also vacated their official bungalows after the top court order.

Soon after he vacated the bungalow, visuals of alleged rampage inside the bungalow were shown on the television channels after which a high level inquiry was ordered into the incident.

The Samajwadi chief, however, had rejected the allegations and said that it was an attempt by the Yogi Adityanath government to mislead the people of the state and tarnish his image.

Meanwhile, reacting to the report on the damages, SP spokesperson Sunil Singh Sajan said on Thursday, “The state government has stooped to a new low. They are coming out with reports just to malign the image of Mr Akhilesh Yadav.
