FLIPKART PLUS TO CHALLENGE AMAZON PRIME

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

To take on the popular Amazon Prime service, Indian e- commerce portal Flipkart has introduced its premium service platform — Flipkart Plus. The service will be available to users without any fee and they will get faster delivery of products with early access to information about active sales as an added benefit — not to forget the rewards which customers will be receiving timely. The service will be officially available for customers from August 15.

With the introduction of this service, Flipkart intends to increase its reach along with the aforementioned benefits. It also claims to provide more prompt and active customer support services. In essence, the e- commerce giant is attempting to lessen the gap between partners and customers. The company also aims to bring a thorough evolution in the online shopping trend.

In a statement, Flipkart stated that the move is the outcome of the company’s existence in the business for several years which helped it in deep data analysis and understanding appropriate customer preferences.

Flipkart’s closest rival in India — Amazon, offers its annual prime membership at ` 999 which embraces its registered customers with several types of benefits. With the free membership registration scheme, Flipkart seems to be making an attractive deal but does it genuinely provides services competitively and how well the audience accepts it, we have to wait to get these answers till it is adapted on a wider level.
