Mind, body, soul should work in harmony

First step crucial in all tasks

In order to achieve something, mental or physical, you require time and devotion. Remember Rome was not built in a day! Let’s start from our birth…

Do you think rolling from straight lying position to on your tummy was easy back then? I am sure not... you grew stronger with multiple attempts using your trunk muscles and rotational forces exerted against the floor.

Do you think getting up on your feet and walking was easy? I am sure your parents must have told you stories about the multiple number of times that you fell on your bum and maybe cried... But you learnt to regain your balance and became strong enough to lift yourself off the floor. From the first bike ride to your first swim lesson. From your first stupid fight with your sibling to your mature way of ignoring the need of argument with your colleagues/ family members, because it’s not that important.

We all know at the software/ brain level what we like and how to manage our body.

In all these thousands of achievements of life, the commonality is, we concentrated on the task at hand — our focus was on achieving the goal set by us and we used best of our potential resources to get the job done.

So, did the task get easy? No, it was still the same. You had built yourself stronger to complete the job.

How did that happen? Understanding the challenge and accepting your current state of being — Mindfulness

Addressing your position, physical state of movement and breaking the action into small steps —

Body and Movement

Analysis

Realising that this action will make you happy, will be added to your achievements

— Soulful

If at all, we try to analyse our actions throughout the day, we will realise that almost all the time these three pillars work in harmony and that is how we live, learn and stay content in our lives.

What happens when the synchronisation is lost. You are still performing the task but you are not mindful of it… or you don’t feel happy/ satisfied doing it.…

Hence, the probabilities are

You might not achieve the desired results

You might injure/ harm yourself

The task might take a long time to get completed Even when done, you will feel it's incomplete Let's take an example to understand it better: Being a physiotherapist, we always talk to our patients to try and understand their concerns. How is the inactivity or the pain that they have incurred/ they are going through affects their daytoday life? What makes them happy and satisfied? Some hobbies or sports that they wish to get back to. This helps us understand the state of mind of our patients. All this cumulatively helps us know their current situation. How long would it take to heal or to be able to get back to their ' normal life'?

What are we doing? We are trying to connect their Mind- Body- Soul functionality again.

Software ( brain) to Hardware ( body/ muscle, joints, nerves etc.) reconnect.

We usually do so many things in a day. All of them require multiple commands back and forth from brain to body. All I am saying is: be mindful of it while you do it. Find a purpose to do it which you really connect with. It might not be your style, it might take a few minutes longer than usual, but it's definitely worth it.
