‘ It’s been physically a demanding year’

The actress is stepping out of her comfort zone and doing an action film and a sports biopic

Shraddha Kapoor, who has played the quintessential girl next door in most of her films so far, seems to be stepping out of her comfort zone this year. She will be seen in two films that demand a lot of her, physically — the Saina Nehwal biopic, and the intense action film, Saaho. The actress tells us how she escaped what could have been a severe injury while shooting for Saaho. “We were shooting a short action scene in Hyderabad when my leg got caught in something and became stretched. I could’ve torn a muscle, but I was saved. Or else I wouldn’t have been able to walk,” she says.

Talking about her decision to do the action sequences in the film herself, without a stunt double, Shraddha says, “Whatever I can do myself, I try and do. Of course, there is a lot of professionalism required to perform stunts. I don’t want to be stuck with an injury for a long time,” she says. The actress has been focussing on keeping as fit as possible to enable her to take on her challenging roles. “I need to keep my fitness level up because I am also training for Saina. I’m glad that my training for Saa ho and Saina are both helping each other. I’m building up my stamina. It’s been quite a physically demanding year for me, but I am excited about it,” she says.
