Biles dons teal outfit to support abuse victims
Simone Biles demonstrated her support for the fellow victims of former US gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar during her routine on Sunday.
Biles became the first woman to win five titles at the US National Gymnastics Championships on Sunday as continued to dominate on her comeback to the sport.
And during her performance in Boston Biles opted to wear a leotard coloured in a special shade of teal, the designated colour for survivors of sexual abuse, reports the Daily Mail.
“( The colour) is for the survivors,” Biles said after her record- breaking performance. “I stand with all of them and I think it’s kind of special to unite ( people).”
Biles was one of more than 100 women who have started publicly that they were victims of abuse by Nassar, who was sentenced at least 60 years in prison in December. Disgraced doctor Nassar was found guilty of molesting young athletes during his time as team doctor for the US gymnastics team.
The 55- year- old has been moved to Oklahoma Federal Transfer Center from his original penitentiary in Tucson, Arizona after being assaulted by fellow prisoners. Biles meanwhile, who won four gold medals at the
2016 Rio
Olympics, took the allround title by
6.55 points over reigning world champion Morgan
Hurd in
Boston.
