I- Day 2019 release for Kesari?

- — Sanskriti Media

The shooting of Akshay Kumar’s Kesari was seriously jeopardised when the film’s sets at Wai, near Panchgani, went up in flames earlier this year. The resulting delay combined with the unavailability of actors’ dates sent the entire filming schedule for a toss.

The remaining portions of the film have not been shot yet, because Akshay’s already committed his time to other projects. Now, inspired by the success of

Gold, Akshay’s I- Day 2018 release, the makers are considering scheduling Kesari for Independence Day 2019.

“The film needs another 15 days of shooting with Akshay and the others. A set will need to be put into place for that. We cannot do anything during the monsoons, because it’s an outdoor schedule, and we need to find the dates that work for Akshay and the other actors in the film. I am not sure what release date suits the makers, but we have a lot of work to be done, including VFX,” informs a source from the film’s unit.

Meanwhile, a trade source says, “Akshay has a fabulous record with Independence Day releases. And it makes sense for him to cash in on the fervour of desh

bhakti. It will be good if the film releases then.”

Kesari tells the story of the Battle of Saragarhi, in which 21 Sikh warriors took on 10,000 Afghan tribesmen. The film is being produced by Karan Johar.
