Atal memorial in Pokhran soon

Jaipur: Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje on Saturday announced a memorial for former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee in Pokhran. It will be called Atal Shakti Sthal.

Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje today announced a memorial for former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee in Pokhran. It will be called Atal Shakti Sthal,” she said while addressing a rally during her Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra in Jaisalmer’s Ramdevra.

“Vajpayee ji establishe­d India as a super power in the world through nuclear test in Pokran hence there should be a memorial in his name in Pokran,” the CM said. Many countries had imposed ban on India following the nuclear test, however, Atal ji proved that he had strong nerves, she added.

“Pokran is the ideal place for Atal Shakti Sthal,” said the CM who also remembered how he former prime minister had given her the responsibi­lity of taking Kargil martyrs’ mortal remains to their homes and to meet their families to provide them moral support.

Earlier, state education minister Vasudev Devnani had declared that the former PM’s biography would be taught in schools. He said that he had written to Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education ( RBSE) to prepare the course material and include it in the school text books.

“Former Prime Minister’s biography would be also provided in every library in the state,” Mr Devani added.
