Lucknow: Former Samajwadi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh, on Tuesday, declared an all out war against senior SP leader Mohd Azam Khan and demanded an inquiry into the funding of the Mohd Ali Jauhar University in Rampur.

“I will meet governor Ram Naik and chief minister Yogi Adityanath and ask them to probe the sources that have provided funds for this university and also how one family ( Azam Khan’s family) is being allowed to remain in control of the entire institution,” he said while addressing a press conference on Tuesday.

Mr Singh played out a video in which Mr Khan is seen saying that riots in the country will stop if “some elements are cut up and their children dumped in acid”.

Holding Mr Khan responsible for the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots, Mr Singh said that since the SP leader had threatened to ‘ cut me up’, he would go to Rampur on August 30.

“I challenge him to cut me up into pieces but also request him to spare my daughters who are now afraid to venture out of the house. This is a battle between Azam Khan and me and I am ready to pay the price”, he said.

Mr Singh blamed Samajwadi patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav of ‘ crafting’ politicians like Mr Khan who spread venom. “When Muslims were being killed in Muzaffarnagar, the Yadav clan was enjoying performances by Bollywood stars in Sefai Mahotsav,” he recalled.

Training his guns on Akhilesh Yadav, Mr Singh accused him of patronising communalists and fundamentalists like ‘ rogue man’ Azam Khan.

Meanwhile, replying to allegations made by Mr Singh, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said, “These are all tactics to divert attention of the public. Only BJP has that power to divert people’s attention. I have been told that some canards are being spread through the digital world but people will finally realize the truth.”
